Sometimes it can feel like nothing is going well in life, everything is going wrong, and you never seem to get a βwinβ.
That obviously doesnβt make you feel very positive. You might be feeling like youβre stuck in a negative mindset thatβs rubbing off on everything.
What can you do about this? Firstly you need to be OPEN to a perspective shift. Then, you track your βbright spotsβ, and start recording everything thatβs going well. Believe it or not, but in doing this, your brain starts to look for success, and often starts finding it.
Each Friday at the gym, we celebrate βBright Spots Fridayβ, and encourage members to share with other members their wins, achievements or breakthroughs each week, no matter how small. It could be as simple as the fact that they made it in the door this week.
ALL βwinsβ count, no matter how small. They might be related to health, fitness, your work, family, or anything else in your life.Eg, you might notice that:Β
even though your morning started as chaos, you were able to cross one thing off your to do list.
you packed your lunch today instead of buying it
you didnβt make it to the gym, but you managed a 15 minute walk
This isnβt about pretending problems donβt exist, but sometimes we need some counterbalance as itβs a human tendency to focus on the negatives. This doesnβt mean that there isnβt some good happening as well.Β
Give this a crack and see how it works for you. Celebrate each bright spot so that your brainΒ Β learns that these new behaviours feel good.
