Since the launch of our NEW eZone class, there has been a lot of excitement and buzz about it all. So with a lot of questions being asked, we’re taking a few moments to answer three of the most common questions we’re being asked about Ezone.
WHAT IS IT?
Without blowing steam, eZone is the brainchild of the EmpowerFit team, boasting a combined 60+ years of fitness industry experience and tertiary knowledge. eZone has been designed to create a fitness program that achieves the most effective body transformation results in the shortest amount of time possible.
At its core, eZone is a 45min total body workout that tones and builds lean muscle, improves your aerobic and anaerobic fitness, all the while turning your body into a fat melting furnace for up to 48 hours after you finish training.
WHAT DO YOU DO DURING AN EZONE CLASS?
A typical eZone class is broken down into 3 main elements (known as blocks) that last anywhere from 8 -15 minutes.
Block 1 is our AFTERBURN block. This is where we work on heart rate zone training to ensure that you are not only building fitness, but you achieve a state of Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC). In simple terms, if we spend the appropriate length of time in the correct heart rate zone, your body will continue to burn calories well after you stop training (this is also known as “afterburn”). To do this, we most commonly use the rower and air bike (as well as some other simple forms of “cardio” training).
Block 2 is our NEUROENDOCRINE block. This is the block where we not only build the strength that helps you in everyday life, but by performing the correct exercises, in the correct correct order, with the correct amount of sets, reps and rest, the result is your body will create the perfect hormone environment that gives you the best muscle toning and fat burning results. For this block, we will routinely use barbells, dumbbells or kettlebells.
Block 3 is our ACTIVATION block. With the body in an ideal hormone state and being a lot more receptive to training stimulus, now is the perfect time in which we work on individual links in the movement chain. To do this, we will routinely use the suspension straps and bands and it’s all about being precise and accurate to make sure the muscles that are meant to be doing the work are firing correctly.
DO I NEED SPECIAL EQUIPMENT TO PARTICIPATE?
While not absolutely essential, we recommend you wear a MyZone heart rate monitor to ensure that you’re achieving the genuine state of EPOC. As mentioned, this is not essential as you can still just show up, get a great total body, total fitness workout without having to bring any equipment, but it does take out the guesswork.
Just to go into a little bit more detail on the heart rate monitor, the MyZone monitor will allow you and your coach to work together in getting you to, and staying in the correct zone. You might be surprised at how many times you think you’re working in one zone when in reality we’re in the zone below (myself included).
So here are the three main questions we get about eZone. I hope you find this helpful and if you’re keen to give it a go, then sing out and we’ll hook you up.
