Us humans can often have an odd approach to so many things in life.
ForFeel the need to ‘get things right’ before you can ‘get things right’? Ah what???? some crazy reason we think we need to ‘get things right’, before we can ‘get things right’.
Do any of these things sound familiar?
I need to get the house cleaned up before the cleaners come in!
I can’t join the gym until I get fitter first.
I need to get my life in order before I start working on my nutrition. .
You don’t need to have it all worked out first. You can simply start before you ‘have things right’ and start as you are.
This mindset is often related to ‘all or nothing’ thinking, where you think you need to be 100% in and everything needs to be perfect, when you do finally start. The truth is it’s okay for you to figure things out and make small improvements as you go, to make mistakes and learn from them or change plans if needed. This is often the more successful approach longer term anyway.
The worst thing you can do, is NOTHING. If there’s something in your brain saying that something needs to change, then listen to it. GET CURIOUS about it and see where that thought leads you. Leading with curiosity rather than expectations means being able to start exactly where you are, and often discovering that change has occurred even though we weren’t ready for it. It occurred without us often realizing, because we weren’t forcing it or waiting for the planets to align before starting.
Is there a habit you’d like to change? What can you get curious about?
