Did you plan ahead of this week?
This is a pretty common quote, but one that makes a lot of sense! Without a plan, we really are increasing the risk of day to day events upheaving us and throwing us right off track!!No matter what it is we want to achieve, without a plan we really are destined to fail.
Here’s why:
Get home late, without a half prepared meal or at least knowing what you are having for dinner, what do you think are likely to be your go to options?
It’s been a tiresome day, your workout clothes are ‘somewhere’ in the laundry and it’s going to take some effort to locate them. What are your chances of locating them, getting them on and doing a workout?
Your morning has turned out super chaotic – one of the kids are sick, you slept in and you just don’t have time to pack your lunch for work. What are your chances of still having a really healthy lunch option? Might you even go, ‘stuff it’, you know what, it’s been a crazy morning, I deserve a treat for lunch today.
At the end of a hectic week, you are feeling tired, emotional and ‘over it’! You haven’t prepared dinner, the family is using this in their favour to conn you to get takeaway and ‘take the night off’! What are your chances of sticking to your meal plan??? .
Without planning and preparation there are sooo many factors that we allow to get in our way and affect all of the decisions we make. We can start off our week with the best intentions, but without planning we are leaving our door wide open to all these other influences. On the other hand, if we were to spend some time planning and preparing on a weekend, we are closing that door shut, and not allwoing these other factors to influence our choices. It makes our week so much easier, and increases our likelihood of remaining on track with healthy habits when we remove the thinking out of things and don’t allow those other factors to get in the way of our choices. The decisons are already made in our planning and we don’t need to go to that effort again.
