WHAT SAFETY MEASURES DO YOU HAVE IN PLACE FOR COVID-19

With gyms re-opening (and closing back down in Melbourne), it is fair to say we’re getting the odd question about what measures we have in place to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread.

And because you asked, we answer.

BOOKING YOUR VISIT

If you’re coming to the gym, you must reserve your spot. We do this for two reasons. Firstly, we need to ensure that we’re keeping within the mandated limits (20 in the gym and 10 per class). Secondly, tracking every single visit will allow “traceability” in the event of a local outbreak.

EQUIPMENT SPACING

The week(end) prior to reopening was a busy one as we went about spacing out all of our equipment to ensure that everyone could achieve safe social distancing (as per the guidelines). This means that irrespective of what equipment you are using or what class you are participating in, it can be done with safe social distancing.

HAND SANITISER & CLEANING STATIONS

We have six hand santising stations throughout the gym and also at the main entrance. We encourage you to use the santisier prior to walking in the door and to also use it regularly throughout your workout (as well as just prior to leaving).

We also have four cleaning/disinfecting stations positioned throughout the gym. Any equipment that you use must be disinfected after use.

ONLINE SERVICES & EQUIPMENT LOAN

For anyone wanting to get fit, but still not ready to step back into the gym, we’ve got a number of things in place to help.

  1. Equipment loan: prior to the official lockdown, we ordered in 60 sets of adjustable dumbbells (DB). While many of these are still out on loan, we do have a number of sets still available.

  2. Online Programming: for any members wanting to train from home, we have an online programming service that means we can design a training program for you to do from the comfort of your own home, using the equipment and space you have at your disposal, all the while factoring in your training goals, experience and injury history. Further to this, you will also be provided with an accountability coach, and in case you’re wondering what this person does – well let’s just say it’s their job to make sure you stay on track.

  3. Online Classes: we continue to provide online classes and have 15 different class options ranging from early morning to evening, Monday through to Saturday. Just a reminder that while these sessions are done remotely, because we use a video link, you are still receiving real coaching in real time (we bring the gym to you).

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING

The first thing/s you need to bring when coming to the gym is two (2) towels. One to lay down on the equipment that you are using, the second to wipe down any excess perspiration.

Another thing you need to bring is your own water bottle – filled up as the water stations are decommissioned for the foreseeable future in the least.

COVID-SAFE APP

While we’re certainly not mandating it, we are encouraging everyone to get the COVIDsafe app on your phone. This will be an immensely important tool in the event of an outbreak in our region and for tracing contacts.

So there you have it – our COVID-19 Safety Measures. The only other thing to add to the mix is that if you’re feeling unwell or someone you’ve been in contact with is not feeling well, then please do the right thing, get tested, isolate and please don’t come to the gym.
